How many of us grew up hearing that “money is the root of all evil?” or that “wanting to make money makes you greedy” or that “if you have your health – you have everything?” (The last one is what I heard. It translated as a child to rich people aren’t healthy! Crazy, I know.)
Well absolutely NONE of the above statements are true. Let’s get this straight.
Evil is the root of all evil.
Money has no emotion, therefore it’s up to you how you treat money. Money funds some incredible programs that change lives in abundant ways.
Health is important, but having money makes it a whole lot easier to stay healthy.
If you missed yesterday’s post beginning my interview with Dr. Patty Ann Tublin, author of newly released, Money Can Buy You Happiness: Secrets Women Need to Know To Get Paid What They Are Worth! then I urge you go read this first.
Today we’re getting clear about how money actually can buy you happiness and why it matters. Dr. Patty Ann is very, very clear about the myriad of reasons money is good, and it has everything to do with your quality of life.
Dr. Patty Ann asks the question in her book, “What keeps you awake at night?” And for most of us, what usually keeps us awake has to do with finances and lack thereof.
Money causes stress and stress causes illness and too many relationships end over money. “Money represents so much more than money.”
So let’s look at Money Stress, which stems from not having enough money and not having any control over your money. If money is a commodity, why are we so conditioned to avoid it?
Money is not the root of all evil. In fact, would you agree that money makes you happy, if you can eliminate all your financial worries? Imagine being debt free? Imagine being able to eat out when you’re tired? Imagine being able to hire someone to help you in your business? Imagine being able to take a real vacation to escape the daily stressors of life? Imagine what that would feel like?
Dr. Patty Ann is not talking about buying a Lear Jet. She’s talking about eliminating financial stress from your life. Money gives us freedom to make positive choices. We can live a comfortable life and give to organizations we care about and ultimately, and we can retire without being a burden on anyone.
The Three Ways Money Can Buy You Happiness
- Reduces the stress of worrying about how to pay all your financial obligations.
- Stress levels go down and your happiness goes up.
- Allows you to live a comfortable life and give to organizations you care about.
So would you agree that changing your money mindset is key to changing your money situation or at the very least, improve what currently exists in your life?
Dr. Patty Ann went on to say, “There’s nothing healthy about struggling to pay your bills.”
The question then is, if you really BELIEVE that money can make you happy by drastically reducing stress, would you not seize the opportunity to take control of your financial life? Would you not get educated about all financial matters. Would you stop putting your money into the hands of someone else? Wouldn’t you want to be involved in decision making about your money?
You are not a bad person if you stand up for yourself in any area of your life, but especially when it comes to your money.
Now that you’ve accepted this new premise that Money Can Buy You Happiness, tomorrow’s post is going to discuss how you go about changing your money mindset.
