Has everyone forgotten how to say NO in our crazy hustle and bustle world of trying to keep up and get it all done? Sometimes I think so, and I must constantly remind myself that NO is an answer and it doesn’t mean I’m rude or inconsiderate. It simply means that I can’t do everything and sometimes I have to say no to take care of myself.
How about you? Do you…
Feel guilty when you say no?
Feel like you have to be all things to all people all the time?
Add too many things to your daily agenda?
Accept too many invitations?
Fear that if you say no…someone might get offended?
We live in the fast lane and the constant treadmill of life and it’s stressful and unnecessary. No is an answer and it doesn’t mean you’re a bad person if you can’t do everything. It simply means that you’ve put some boundaries in place and you’ve set your priorities.
Life is not meant to be lived on a roller coaster. Hell…it’s gotten to the point that when we return from a vacation, we’re exhausted and require several days to recover. We’ve created lives we need to escape from and vacations that we save all year for, only to return and start the madness all over again.
Is it because we can’t say NO? It’s not the only reason, but it certainly plays out in our lives.
What do you need to say no to? Is it…
Constantly checking email and social media? Seriously how often do you say no to technology raining in your ear every two seconds?
Is it too much stress in your career or job?
Is it that you’ve planned too many activities for your family?
Is it too many social events?
Or maybe you need to say no to all the pressure you place on yourself to do it all!
If you struggle with NO for whatever reason, this might help you get clear about how to add no to your vocabulary without offending anyone.
Take some time right now and figure out where your life feels out of control and then decide what you need to say to, because NO is an answer.
Your life is not a dress rehearsal. Isn’t it time to get off the treadmill and start living in your sweet spot?.Where do you want to be in 5 years? What does life look for you if nothing changes?
The time is now…and maybe, just maybe it begins with saying no to some things and more YES to you.
